The EB-1A is for people with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business or athletics. You can self-petition based on your achievements. No sponsor is required.

The 10 criteria: you need at least 3

Unless you have a one-time major achievement, such as a Nobel Prize or Olympic medal:

1. Recognized prizes or awards.
2. Membership in associations requiring outstanding achievement.
3. Published material about you in major media or trade publications.
4. Judging the work of others.
5. Original contributions of major significance.
6. Scholarly articles in journals or major media.
7. Display of your work at exhibitions or showcases.
8. A leading or critical role for distinguished organizations.
9. A high salary compared with others in the field.
10. Commercial success in the performing arts.

EB-1A or EB-2 NIW?

Many strong candidates qualify for both. The EB-1A has a higher standard but can be faster for some nationalities, while the EB-2 NIW is often easier to prove. Many clients file both to maximize their chances.
